About
Muslim History Maps is a digital mapping project which collects and shares the history of the global Muslim civilisation, past and present. The records and collections include information on archives, artefacts, manuscripts, photographs, maps, art, videos, films, academic research, oral history recordings and other crowd-sourced knowledge of the history of Muslims. Contributors include museums, archives, private collectors, individuals, families, community groups, artists, academics, and historians.
The unique map geographically positions Muslim history dating back centuries while connecting it with a living history in the present day. Through our map, we hope to create a network that links academics, historians, archivists, heritage professionals, researchers, and communities to share and further knowledge and understanding of Muslim history, their work and explore its impact and interconnectedness in the present day.
