1997
What was previously a pub since 1805 was turned into a mosque that has served Tower Hamlets growing Muslim population from 1997. It has evolved into a religious, social and cultural space, hosting various socio-cultural events for men, women, and children. It now hosts annual iftar gatherings, charity events, and provides education to young Muslims, reinforcing its role as a communal pillar for the Bangladeshi Muslim diaspora in London, alongside the general Muslim population.
At present, the Mosque is raising funds for its phase three expansion, hoping to construct a second, third, and fourth floor, as well as minaret and dome. This can further facilitate the growing needs of the Muslim population, providing further social and religious events.
