1965
This masjid was established by Pir Maroof Hussain, a local spiritual leader who acknowledged the need for a place of spiritual sustenance for Muslim migrants from the subcontinent, who had become detached from the Muslim way of life. Children have been taught how to recite the Quran and the basics of being a Muslim here since the 1960s to this day. The first house, number 68, was bought in 1965. Number 69 was later purchased in 1966, and both houses were then combined to make a larger mosque and centre.
The organisation has currently established 23 mosques around the world, and they are always looking to expand to provide spiritual sustenance for the Muslims of Bradford and beyond. They have established masājid and centres of learning in the Netherlands, France and beyond. The ongoing work and effort being done by the Jamiyat is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the organisation as they have been involved in bettering the collective lives of Muslims in the United Kingdom and beyond.
This is evident as the services they provide are holistic as they include: faith activities, the prevention or relief of poverty, the advancement of health or saving of lives, education, training, community development, general charitable purposes, overseas aid and promoting religious or racial harmony
