1985
Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies
The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies was founded in 1985 as a centre for the advanced study of Islam and the Muslim world. In 1993, King Charles III (then the Prince of Wales) became its patron. The centre began as a wooden hut on St Cross Road, then an office on George Street in 1990. Finally, in 2016, the centre moved into their purpose built premises, which blend the traditional style of an Oxford college with Islamic architecture. It was designed by Egyptian architect Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil.
